Help us kickoff Summer Reading on June 3rd at 2 pm. We will have games, hot dogs, a sidewalk chalk art contest, balloon animals, and more!

A Universe of Stories, Summer Reading

Signup for Summer Reading at the kickoff party or online. Kids, Birth to 11 years old, can signup here. Adults can signup for summer reading here . No signup is required for teens. For more information about teen Summer Reading visit the Teen Summer Reading page.

Community service help is needed. Anyone interested in fulfilling some community service hours for school, call 620-626-0180 or come in to the library to sign up.

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

Babies up to children not-yet-enrolled in kindergarten are invited to participate in this new FREE program!

Read 1000 books to  your child before he/she enters school.
Your child will receive a prize after each 200 books he/she reads.

A universe of stories

Kid’s, birth to 11 years old, can sign-up for summer reading online or at the library. For teens, 6th – 12th grade, no sign-up is needed. Just come in to the library to get your Teen Summer Reading bingo card and find out how to get started.

This year, Summer Reading will be out of this world. Dan Dan’s magic show, “Cosmic Conjuring: A Universe of Magic”, will guide you on a journey full of magic space adventures! Astronauts and Aliens, Planets and Prestidigitation, Magic in the Milky Way. With lots of laughter, space-themed magic, and LIVE animal friends.

On Thursday, June 13th at 1 pm, Eric Vaughn will bring his magic show to the library for a fun Summer Reading program. Get set for enchantment and laughs!

On Friday, June 7th at 1:30 pm, Jennifer Hanson, a Share-A-Story Presenter, will come to the library and read There’s No Place Like Space! by Tish Rabe and each child will get a copy of the book to take home. After that we will watch a fun video about gravity and make rockets out of construction paper.

Lapsit Storytime

parent and baby readingWednesdays at 11 am, children ages 0-2 and their parents/caregivers are invited to a special storytime geared for younger children.

Come listen to stories, sing songs, and develop key literacy skills.

Also, every child gets a FREE book to take home!

Our storytime hours have changed:

Daytime – Tuesdays at 11 am, open to all ages
Lapsit –  Wednesdays at 11 am, geared for children ages 0-2
Evening – Thursdays at 5:30 pm, open to all ages

We’ll have stories, songs, crafts, and more!

Plus, every child gets a free book to take home at every storytime.
