Supplemental horse and cattle feed was freighted in the winter to the ranches on the Cimarron from Arkalon, Fargo Springs, Springfield and, later, from Liberal. Note the lantern on the step on side. Mr. Custer sits at the desk. Jess McCoid once told how, at Fargo Springs, Custer and another man quarreled in a card game, took to the street, fired a cylinder of cartridges each from revolvers at each other.
