Duck Race Festival – 2023

Library patrons who came to to Duck Race Festival on Saturday, Sept. 23 received a free duck if they came by the library’s booth showed us their library cards.

Cutest Pet Contest – 2023

Patrons entered pictures of their pets into our Cutest Pet Contest in August. Everyone was invited to came into the library to see the contest entries and vote for the cutest. The winners won gift baskets made up of prizes donated by:

– Liberal Animal Hospital
– Prairie Pet Mobile Vet
– Shirley’s Critter Care

End of Summer Reading Party with Magician Dan Dan the Magic Man – 2023

On Thursday, July 13th at 1 pm, our end of Summer Reading Party featured Dan Dan the Magic Man. We had fun activities for all ages. This event was sponsored by the Southwest Symphony Society and by the Community Bank.

Teen & Adult: DIY Comic Frame 2023

On Wednesday, July 12th at 2 pm, teens and adults had fun making comic book picture frames!

Star Wars Event 2023

Thanks to members of the 70th Explorers Garrison for making it out to our Star Wars event on July 8th. We had a story time, crafts, games and a raffle!

On Tuesday, June 6 at 2 pm, Teens and adults came together for this fun and unique summer reading program craft creating silhouette art based around their favorite character.

Smoky Hills Storytime

On Tuesday, June 6th at 11am, Smoky Hills PBS presented Share A Story “All Together Now”. We listened to a story, watched a video, and made a fun craft.

Summer Reading Kickoff Party 2023

Jerry Barlow Concert 2022

On Nov. 9th the library hosted a free concert by Jerry Barlow. It was a combination of Celtic guitar, history and humor. His music consists of a synthesis of traditional music from the British Isles and his own original Celtic-inspired compositions. Barlow brought the songs alive by sharing the history, legend and humor behind the music. This event was sponsored by Liberal Memorial Library and free to the community.

Halloween Party 2022

After the Kiwanis ended their Pet and Spook Parade at the library, we started our own Halloween Bash! Thanks to everyone who participated!

Haunted House Contest 2022

We had so many amazing haunted houses entered into our haunted house contest. Take a look at our winners! Miriam received first place, Yisel and Liset received second place, and Jaxon received third place. Good job everyone! The houses will be on display until Halloween.

Teen DIY Spellbook Craft

On Oct. 13th, middle schoolers & high schoolers came to the library for a spooky craft.

Teen H2O Party 2022

On Friday, August 5th at 3 pm, we had water based games on the front lawn. Teens had fun with water balloons and a frozen t-shirt race.

Mad Science 2022 – Amazing Oceans

On Friday, July 1st at 11 am, Mad Science came to the library to present Amazing Oceans as part of our Ocean of Possibilities Summer Reading Program.

How do fish rise and sink in water? Why do some fish light up in the dark? What other mysteries lie within the murky deep?

Container Gardening Craft 2022

On Thursday, June 30th at 2 pm, we learned about container gardening while having fun planting seeds and decorating a flowerpot to take home! Presented by the Wild West District of K-State Research and Extension.

Teen & Adult Craft: Bubble Art

On Tuesday, June 21st at 2 pm, teens & adults created bubble art at the library. We used oil pastels on black paper to really make our bubble creations pop!

Aaron Fowler “Climb Onboard the Boat” 2022

Musician Aaron Fowler and his trained therapy dogs came to the library on Tuesday, June 21st at 11 am with his “Climb Onboard the Boat” Summer Reading program.

There was singing, moving, playing instruments, and sharing stories, including stories from the latest book in the Bella and Choco series, The Boat.

Llamas at the Library 2022

Christina Abel brought llamas to the library on Thursday, June 16th at 11 am as part of the Summer Reading program.

Smoky Hills PBS Share-a-story 2022

A big thank you to Smoky Hills PBS Share-a-story presenter Jennifer Hanson who came to the library and read “Wild Sea Creatures: Sharks, Whales, and Dolphins a Wild Kratts story” followed by a craft and video. Everyone had lots of fun!

Victoria Zamora had the closest guess in our contest to guess the correct number of candy hearts. She guessed 800 and there were actually 821. Congrats Victoria!

On Thursday, Oct. 14th we got together for a Pumpkin Decorating Day. Each person was given a small pumpkin to decorate.
