Teen Make & Take Holiday Gifts

Don’t know what to get your friends or family this holiday season? On Monday, December 9th from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm, make something with your own hands that they are sure to enjoy! We will have several different craft gift options to choose from, you are welcome to make one or make them all. 

This event is free but supplies will be limited. This is a teens only event, you must be 11 – 18 or a middle or high school student.


Food for Fines

Food for Fines

From now until the end of the year, donate canned vegetables or any nonperishable food items or new toiletries (toothpaste, soap, toilet paper, etc.) to the library and we will waive your overdue fines! All donated items will be given to local charities. (No expired items, please)

This works for overdue fines only, fines for lost or damaged items will not be waived.


Library Closed for Thanksgiving

We will reopen for normal hours on Saturday, 30th – 11:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.


Movie Time: Dora and the Lost City of Gold

Dora and the lost city of gold

On Thursday, November 21st at 6 pm, watch a new live-action adaptation of a popular Nickelodeon television series. Teenage Dora leads her friends on an adventure to save her parents and solve the mystery behind a lost city of gold.

We’ll provide popcorn and drinks or you can bring your own drinks.


World Kindness Day: Kindness Rocks

On Monday, November 11th at 4 pm, celebrate World Kindness Day by painting rocks at the library! Paint them to remind yourself or others to be kind and even share them as a random act of kindness. Open to all ages.


Board Game Day

On Thursday, November 7th from 4 to 7 pm, Join us for free play of all of our board games at the library! We will have experts in several games to help you learn if you want to play a game you never have before. Have a favorite that you want to share with others? Feel free to bring it!


Video & Board Game Day

Out of school? On Monday Nov. 4th from 1 to 4 pm, play video & board games at the library!

Interactive Movie: Hocus Pocus

On Monday Oct. 28th at 6 pm, enjoy an interactive showing of the Halloween Disney movie Hocus Pocus.

Max, a teenage boy, moves to Salem where he accidentally releases the Sanderson sisters, evil witches who lived 300 years ago. Max and his friends must stop them from wreaking havoc on the town.

Interactive showings are a fun way of enjoying a movie where everyone gets a script and a bag of props and you follow along to shout and snack along with the movie. 


Teen Halloween Party

Teens in middle and high school, come join us on Thursday, October 31st at 6 pm for a Halloween party just for you! We will have a costume contest and games and snacks!


Escape Room: Hocus Pocus

The library is hosting a Hocus Pocus themed escape room
from Friday, October 4th to October 25th.

Who lit the black flame candle?

Solve clues and puzzles to open locks and escape the room before the Sanderson sisters come back and suck the life from you! 

This FREE experience is open to ages 10 and older for groups of 2 – 5 people. Sign up is required, please call the library (620-626-0180) to reserve your spot!


Musicians - Bettman & Halpin

Bettmant and Halpin

Bettman & Halpin will perform their original, toe tapping, and heartfelt Americana and folk music at the library on Tuesday, October 8th at 6 p.m. Come to our coffee bar to enjoy upbeat bluegrass inspired music.


Fall Book Sale

The book sale is open to the public Tuesday, October 15th through Friday the 18th during regular library hours and Saturday the 19th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

  • Tuesday through Thursday – paperbacks will be $0.50 each and all other items will be $1 each
  • Friday and Saturday – $1 for every bag full of books and $3 for every box full of books

There will be a reception and sale on Monday night, October 14th, at 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. that is limited to all members of the Friends of the Library and Library Board Members.

Funds from the Book Sale go to the Friends of the Library to help support library programs including Baby’s Bookshelf, Budding Bookworms, Summer Reading Program, etc.

Movie Time: Aladdin

Watch, Aladdin, a new live action remake of a Disney classic with us on Tuesday, September 17th at 5:30 pm.

A kind-hearted street urchin and a power-hungry Grand Vizier vie for a magic lamp that has the power to make their deepest wishes come true.

We will bring the popcorn and you can bring the soda!


National Video Games Day

It’s national video games day!

Starting at 4:30 pm, we will have free play until 7 pm on Thursday, September 12th.

Use our consoles or bring your own console, controllers, and games for additional fun.


Library spirit week

This year we are celebrating Literacy Week in a different way. Starting Tuesday, September 3rd, visit the library dressed up in that day’s theme and you will be entered into a drawing for a $25 Walmart gift card and get your picture added to the library’s social media.

  • Tuesday – “Cozy up with a good book” wear your pajamas to the library
  • Wednesday – “Fun in the Sun” wear a Hawaiian shirt or something beachy
  • Thursday – “Book character day” dress as a character from a book
  • Friday – “Sock it to reading ” wear fun socks
