We will reopen on Monday for our regular hours.

Spring Break Activities

Do your kids need something to do while they’re out of school? The library has you covered! Monday, March 9th through 13th from 2 to 4 pm, we’ll have a different activity each day.

  • Monday & Wednesday are Craft Days
  • Tuesday & Thursday are Game Days – board games and video games
  • Friday is Movie Day – we’ll have free popcorn and you’re welcome to bring your own drinks

Escape Room: Stranger Things

The library is hosting a Stranger Things themed escape room
from Monday, March 9th to the 23rd.

“Why are you keeping this curiosity door locked?”
Can you escape the upside down?

Solve clues and puzzles to open locks and escape the room. The room is timed for 30 minute sessions

This FREE experience is open to ages 10 and older for groups of 2 – 5 people. Sign up is required, please call the library (620-626-0180) to reserve your spot!


2020 March Book Madness

If you correctly predict which books in the adult list, teen list, and kid’s list will get the most votes and turn in your prediction by Friday, March 6th by 4:30 p.m., you’ll win a March Book Madness trophy.


Teen Otaku club

Love anime and manga? On March 14th at 1 pm, our Otaku club is focusing on the Slice of Life genre vs the Adventure genre.

We will vote between two shows in each category and watch the winner. Afterwards we’ll vote again to decide which show to watch for the rest of the meeting.

We will have a craft and discussion along with each show. Feel free to bring your own refreshments!

Teens only please, 11 – 18 year olds (or middle and high school students).


Teen Val-U-Time Day

Teens, on Monday, Feb. 10th at 5 pm, have a Val-U-Time day! Explore different ways to celebrate self care and self love with activities such as positivity jars, coloring, yoga (at 5 pm) and therapy dogs (at 6 pm). 


Pokémon Day

On Thursday, Feb. 27th at 4 pm, celebrate Pokémon day with us by creating your own fakémon (fake Pokémon), going on a scavenger hunt to find lost Pokémon, and creating your own Pokéball!


Creation Station

Liberal High Schoolers, Liberal Memorial Library will be at the High School for a drop in make and take DIY event on Wednesday, Jan. 29th. Paint a kindness rock or make a rock photo holder.

Love anime and manga? Join us at the library on Saturday, February 8th at 1 pm in viewing a few episodes of a show and an activity.

A vote will determine what show we will watch and there will be a new themed activity every month. Feel free to bring your own refreshments and a blanket or pillow to be comfortable!

Teens only please, 11 – 18 year olds (or middle and high school students).


Movie Time: The Addams Family

On Thursday, Jan. 23rd at 6 pm, watch a new animated version of an old favorite at the library. An eccentrically macabre family moves to an ordinary suburb where Wednesday Addams’ friendship with the daughter of a hostile neighbor causes conflict between the families.

We’ll provide popcorn and drinks or you can bring your own drinks.

Video & Board Game Day

On Monday, January 6th between 1 and 4 pm, come play video and board games at the library! We have all kinds of games to play.


6 Word Story Contest

Ernest Hemingway placed a bet that he could write a story in just six words. If the legend is true, he won with “For Sale: Baby Shoes, Never Worn.”

The Library is challenging any 6th-12th grader in Seward County to write a story with just six words.

Students may submit up to two original six word stories. The contest starts January 7th and final submissions must be made by February 3rd. Winners will be announced by February 7th.

There will be two categories:

  • 6th – 8th graders
  • 9th – 12th graders

A prize will be awarded to the winners.
