Game Day for Adults

Celebrate International Games Week with us on Thursday, November 7th at 2 pm. Hang out with other adults and play board games. For adults only.

Board Game Day

On Thursday, November 7th from 4 to 7 pm, Join us for free play of all of our board games at the library! We will have experts in several games to help you learn if you want to play a game you never have before. Have a favorite that you want to share with others? Feel free to bring it!


Spinning Yarns group

Do you love to crochet, knit, or do other needlework? Would you like to spend time with other adults who share your interest, give pointers, and socialize?

Then come work on your current project at our Spinning Yarns group!

Please bring your own materials. Beginners to experts, are all welcome.

When: Wednesday, November 6th and 20th from 2 to 4 pm
Where: In the Cooper Clark meeting room


Library and Lunch - November 2019

For November’s book discussion, we asked our patrons to write down the names of authors they are most thankful for and we put them in a bowl for others to draw from. Come to the circulation desk to draw an author’s name and find a book in the library written by that author.

Interactive Movie: Hocus Pocus

On Monday Oct. 28th at 6 pm, enjoy an interactive showing of the Halloween Disney movie Hocus Pocus.

Max, a teenage boy, moves to Salem where he accidentally releases the Sanderson sisters, evil witches who lived 300 years ago. Max and his friends must stop them from wreaking havoc on the town.

Interactive showings are a fun way of enjoying a movie where everyone gets a script and a bag of props and you follow along to shout and snack along with the movie. 


Halloween Bunco

Wear your costumes and join us for our popular dice game!

Registration is required, so register online, or in person. Adults only. Snacks will be provided.

When: Thursday, October 31st at Noon.


Escape Room: Hocus Pocus

The library is hosting a Hocus Pocus themed escape room
from Friday, October 4th to October 25th.

Who lit the black flame candle?

Solve clues and puzzles to open locks and escape the room before the Sanderson sisters come back and suck the life from you! 

This FREE experience is open to ages 10 and older for groups of 2 – 5 people. Sign up is required, please call the library (620-626-0180) to reserve your spot!


Recipe Swap - October 2019

Join us for Recipe Swap and share your favorite recipe with fellow patrons who share your passion — cooking!

Every month is a different theme! This month’s theme is “Orange you glad you’re in Recipe Swap!”, anything with the color orange in it.

When: Tuesday, October 29th at 6:30 p.m.

Musicians - Bettman & Halpin

Bettmant and Halpin

Bettman & Halpin will perform their original, toe tapping, and heartfelt Americana and folk music at the library on Tuesday, October 8th at 6 p.m. Come to our coffee bar to enjoy upbeat bluegrass inspired music.


Fall Book Sale

The book sale is open to the public Tuesday, October 15th through Friday the 18th during regular library hours and Saturday the 19th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

  • Tuesday through Thursday – paperbacks will be $0.50 each and all other items will be $1 each
  • Friday and Saturday – $1 for every bag full of books and $3 for every box full of books

There will be a reception and sale on Monday night, October 14th, at 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. that is limited to all members of the Friends of the Library and Library Board Members.

Funds from the Book Sale go to the Friends of the Library to help support library programs including Baby’s Bookshelf, Budding Bookworms, Summer Reading Program, etc.

Comfort for Critters

On Thursday, Sept. 19th and again on Oct. 3rd from 2 to 4 pm, we’re getting together to make knotted fleece blankets that will be donated to the Liberal animal shelter for the cats and dogs there.

Please signup for the Sept. 19th session and/or the Oct. 3rd session.

You could also help by donating fleece for the blankets. Donations are needed by Sept. 16th.

Movie Time: Aladdin

Aladdin movie

Watch, Aladdin, a new live action remake of a Disney classic with us on Tuesday, September 17th at 5:30 pm.

A kind-hearted street urchin and a power-hungry Grand Vizier vie for a magic lamp that has the power to make their deepest wishes come true.

We will bring the popcorn and you can bring the soda!
