It’s Mickey Mouse’s birthday! On Nov. 18th at 4:30 pm, we will be celebrating by creating art in the shape of Mickey Mouse. All ages are welcome.

Jerry Barlow, Celtic Guitarist and Storyteller

The library invites you to a free concert by Jerry Barlow. Enjoy Celtic guitar, history and humor as heard on NPR and PBS. His music consists of a synthesis of traditional music from the British Isles and his own original Celtic-inspired compositions. Barlow brings the songs alive by sharing the history, legend and humor behind the music. Sponsored by Liberal Memorial Library and free to the community.


Halloween Party

Kiwanis will end their Pet & Spook Parade at the library. Everyone’s invited to the library afterwards for our Halloween Party. On Monday Oct. 31st at 4:30 pm, there will be games with plenty of candy and goodies! All ages are welcome.

Fall Book Sale

Support the library and pick up some good deals at our book sale Tuesday, Nov. 8th – Saturday, Nov. 12th during regular library hours.

Tues-Thurs – paperbacks will be $0.50 each and all other items will be $1 each.

Fri-Sat – $1 for every bag full of books and $2 for every box full of books.

Funds from the Book Sale go to the Friends of the Library to help support library programs including Baby’s Bookshelf, Budding Bookworms, Summer Reading Program, etc.

On Monday evening, November 7th from 6 pm – 7:30 pm, there will be an exclusive first pick Book Sale reception for current and new Friends of the Library members only.

Library and Lunch - November

For November’s book discussion, we asked our patrons to write down the names of authors they are most thankful for and we put them in a bowl for others to draw from. Come to the circulation desk to draw an author’s name and find a book in the library written by that author.

Game Day

Thursday, October 20th starting at 5 pm, join us to play video games, board games and card games. This event is open to all ages, bring a friend or family member to try out a new game! We will also have occasional tournaments on Mariokart, Super Smash Bros., Just Dance and Tekken for those interested.


Teen & Adult Haunted House Contest

Sign up to pick up a “house” to decorate at home and bring back to enter into our haunted house contest which will run between Oct. 3rd – 17th . Voting will be open from Oct. 18th – 22nd. Winners will be announced Oct. 26th. Supplies are limited, sign up to save your spot! Register in person or by phone 620-626-0180. Sign up begins September 30.

Escape the Rainbow Room

Can you escape the upside down?

Solve clues and puzzles to open locks and escape the room. The room is timed for 30 minute sessions.

This FREE experience is open to ages 10 and older for groups of 2 – 5 people. Sign up is required, please call the library (620-626-0180) to reserve your spot!


Adult & Teen National Coloring Day

Wed, Sept. 14th at Noon and again at 6 pm, come to the library for National Coloring Day! Relax, color, and enjoy some snacks. Supplies will be provided. Free coloring books while supplies last.

Library spirit week 2022

Celebrate with us by participating in Spirit Week! From Sept. 6th through 9th, everyone who participates and comes in dressed up and takes a picture will be entered in a drawing for prizes. The themes for each day are as follows:

  • Tuesday September 6th – Cozy up with a book: Wear your comfiest pajamas
  • Wednesday Sept. 7th – 2 sides to every story: Dress up as your favorite antagonist (Villian) or protagonist (Hero).
  • Thursday Sept. 8th – Put on your Reading Caps: Wear your craziest or favorite hat.
  • Friday Sept. 9th – “King” of Horror: Dress up as your favorite Stephen King character.

Library Closed for Labor Day

The Library will be closed on Monday, September 5th for Labor Day.

We will reopen on Tuesday for our regular hours.
